Artichoke plastic spoons 2006

Karen Azoulay is a New York City based artist who was born in Toronto, Canada. She received her BFA from York University in 2000. Solo exhibitions include Fire Tale, curated by Joseph R. Wolin at Four Gallery / The Lab in Dublin, Ireland, 2007; Wading Under a Crackling Sky, curated by Glenn Ligon at CUE Art Foundation in New York (2007); The Evening Canopy and the Sunset Hour at Mercer Union in Toronto (2006). Her installations and performances include commissions for institutions such as The Art Gallery of Ontario, Canadian Art Magazine and The Power Plant. Her work has been included in group shows at the Islip Art Museum, East Islip, NY; Stichting, Eindhoven, Netherlands; Hanna Gallery, Tokyo; Art & Idea, Mexico City; Galerie Kunstbuero, Vienna, and White Columns, New York among others. Recent projects include The Frontier is Here, a group exhibition at the ICCA in Cape Breton, Down with Liberty! a lecture at Deitch Studios in New York City and The Banquet of Tigress and Plumes, a unique event that merged performance, food and sculpture.
